Coming off recruiting a solid 2015 Fall pledge class when the it seemed as if the sky was falling in on the chapter due to external circumstances, we knew we had 15 more great brothers to help with the recruiting effort this time around. However, with the doors of 734 Fowler closed for renovation over the summer, we also knew that we had our work cut out for us. This fact, combined with an emphasis on a “quality over quantity” recruitment agenda, our rush chairmen, Owen Fisher and Chris Skretkowicz, led the charge and landed ten Phikeia of whom we are very proud. Though it is not exactly the number we were looking for, we are optimistic and have set our sights on recruiting a sizeable spring pledge class to bolster this 2016 pledge class’s size.
Georgia Delta has had a packed social calendar over the past year. Last fall, the chapter headed to Gatlinburg, TN. for our annual Mountain Weekend and Semiformal, and the spring brought our annual Bowery Ball formal in Jekyll Island, GA. In April, we hosted our Rasta Phi band party featuring Trinidad James, a Phi Delt tradition dating back to the early 90’s. We also mixed with the ladies of Alpha Phi. This fall brought the 30th annual Biker’s Ball mixer with Alpha Xi Delta as well as a packed game day tailgate schedule and several band parties. We’re excited to head to Callaway Gardens at the end of October for our annual fall semiformal, as well New Orleans, LA in the spring for the 2017 Bowery Ball formal.
